The project
Timbatec was entrusted with the task of calculating the structural analysis for the timber construction and preparing the tender texts.
The construction method
Laminated veneer lumber panels (Kerto Q) were used for the construction of the exterior walls. An additional challenge was the large snow loads at this height and the heavy roof covering (stone slabs). For the walls, the efficient and flexible timber frame construction method was chosen; for the ceilings, box girders, which were manufactured by the timber contractor himself.
The challenge
The houses are provided with cantilevered terraces that are simultaneously cut into the building. The challenge was to structurally support the corners above each of them without making the structure visually obtrusive.
This was achieved by the special supporting structure in the exterior walls.
