Terraced house Sandblatte, Rain

We were responsible for the timber construction statics, fire protection and building physics for these terraced single-family houses with commercial units and a shared underground parking garage.

Involved

The project
We supervised this development in Rain. The existing underground parking garage was upgraded so that the two-storey buildings could be constructed above it. Above ground, everything was built in timber with visible wooden ceilings. A busy main road had to be taken into account in terms of building physics.

The construction method
The walls were built using timber frame construction and the floor slabs with cross-laminated timber.

The challenge
We were able to simplify the fire protection requirements considerably with simple measures without compromising safety.
