The project
The four-story residential building is located in a quiet neighborhood close to Lake Zurich and the community of Kilchberg. With the additional attic floor and the simultaneous renovation, the building is upgraded. Timbatec planned the stud frame building and then created the structural concept in the special floor plan. A further planning step was the dimensioning of the roof, the load-bearing walls as well as the encapsulated wooden components for the staircase. Timbatec accompanied the construction during the execution, likewise Timbatec took over the quality assurance as a specialist for the encapsulated timber components.
The construction method
For weight reasons, the attic storey could only be added in wood. The extension was built as an element frame construction, the roof elements were realized as box girder elements. The existing solid construction was completely renovated. The components to the escape routes were designed as encapsulated constructions.
The challenge
The challenge for this addition was mainly the logistics of planning the wooden elements in such a way that the crane could also support them.
The various buildings were offset in height, which required some brainpower for the connections to the existing building and the detailed solutions.
