The project
Two new apartments were built into the existing listed barn. In the fire protection concept, the two apartments were considered as single-family houses, which are separated by a fire wall REI60. Thus, the installation could be carried out with few fire protection measures and yet very safely. The roof structure of the existing building was structurally strengthened where necessary and the new loads were applied to a newly installed concrete ceiling.
The construction
Above the basement, a new concrete ceiling was installed as an intercepting ceiling. On top of this, two floors were built in timber construction, completely detached from the existing roof structure.
The challenge
An installation in the existing structure without dismantling the roof or the exterior walls must be neatly planned and coordinated. In addition, it is very important in such projects to reach the goal with technically simple fire protection concepts.
