The project
The facade of the three upper floors of the after-school care center are designed as a wooden structure, which supports the ceilings made of concrete. This means that the ceiling was concreted onto prefabricated wooden facade elements. This solution could be realized because both the architect and Timbatec were convinced of it. In the planning, it looked for a while as if a solution with steel supports would be used - although architect Rossbauer had won the municipal competition for the after-school care center with an all-wood construction. Thanks to the commitment of the architects and Timbatec, the advantages of wood were finally exploited.
The construction
The wooden elements in the after-school care center not only support the concrete ceiling. They also create a comfortable atmosphere for the children. After all, a pleasant climate and good sound insulation are particularly important in buildings such as after-school care centers.
The challenge
The daycare center is located in a listed park. The total of six care rooms in the Ilgen after-school care center for up to 160 children must blend harmoniously into the surroundings.
